how can i tell what engine code iv got on my car?

engine numer on log book, mine says BAM

or on the service book on the sticker in first page

or on a sticker on the timing belt cover

Or on a sticker in the bootwell

just been to av a look it is AUM. does that make much difference. good/bad. or is that a stupid question.
