Hi
I have recently bought an A4 Avant 2.4 SE (2000 x-reg) It have unfortunatly turned out to have a few problems... First the classic symptom of fuel gauge going mad... and fading center display when hot.
I had the Cluster cheked at a specialist whom refurbish ..and they could not find any faults! - I am guessing that it might be the fuel level sensor that need changeing?
More importantly is that the airbag warning light on the dash is on constantly ("the passenger airbag off!" sign in the roof goes out as it should when starting the car.
I bought a VAG Scanner (VAG305) And the only fault I am getting is 65535
"Control Unit Failure or Internal Control Module Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Error,or Power Failure to Control Unit or Bad Ground Contacts,or No Faults Recorded (If MIL Not Illuminated)
or No Faults Recorded (If MIL Not Illuminated)
or Control Unit Faulty (In Some Systems)
or No Faults Recorded (If MIL Not Illuminated) A
or Control Unit Faulty (In Some Systems)"
I cant seem to clear it..or it comes back straight away?
What could be wrong...?
I have heard about the wire loom underneath the front seats having bad contacts - but i took out and cleaned with contact cleaner...still same result... and if I am right the scanner should have picked up such a fault?
I then tried to disconect one of the contacts from underneath the driver seat and sure enough the scanner picked up this code 01217
"Side Airbag Igniter: Driver Side (N199)"
I put it back and tried the passenger side and yes with same result 01218
"Side Airbag Igniter: Passenger Side (N200)"
I then put it all back - but it has now become imposible to delete the codes - as a result i now have three DTC's
Could it just be that my Vag Scanner cannot clear those codes or could there be a bigger problem? - if so what?
Any help or suggestions would be much apprisiated
