So, on good Friday, I visited the dealer, and having test driven a used S3, I pick it up this Friday

Spec was as I wanted, and to cap it all, it’s done 700 miles, but is classed as used, so 7k off list price. First registered on the 2nd March, so a 19 plate as well. Something to do with the original customer rejecting it after noticing some light scratches in the paint, they’ll easily come out and not even deep enough to catch a finger nail in.

It’s in nano grey, not my first choice, but I hope it will come up good when I detail and protect it.

Pics next weekend if the weather allows.

Seems like you have a reasonable deal there.
I’m not sure I buy the rejected story - I wouldn’t think they would allow a rejection just for some light scratches that could be polished out.

Not sure I do either to be honest, but it seems to drive ok. I’ll always have the name and address of the first owner to check up if necessary.

You can reject a car for any reason within the first 30 days .... If the original owner wasn’t happy especially as the car was probably delayed too , depends on how the dealer handled it with him too . I would request any history or warranty work or non warranty work that they have.

Could just simply be they ordered a 310 and expected that. Maybe they missed the noise of the pre wltp car. When you test drive and order a car you don’t expect it to sound and perform differently when it turns up

Got the car, love it. Noticed on collection it has the 4 rings on the ground, wife is jealous, wants them on her A4, is it an easy change?

Anyway, story seems to check out, scratches gone. Not messed too much yet, but did put it in dynamic and accelerated from a wet roundabout, not a hint of wheelspin. Didn’t give it full beans either. Taking some getting used to, from my 150bhp A1, but enjoying it so far. And got low 40’s to the gallon on the 70 miles commute this morning, sometimes the M25 traffic helps out

Couple of pics to follow once I work out how to resize them

Audi rings are £80 a pair and very easy to fit.
Sounds like you enjoying the car and having a hoot of a time. It only gets better the more you drive it. S3 is great car, civilised when need to and quick enough to get you into trouble.
I don’t understand how you or others manage 40+mpg most I’ve managed was 35 on a long motorway journey.
Anyway look forward to seeing the pics.

This is straight from the dealer, I’ll detail it myself in due course.

Achieving 42mpg was easy. Stick it in efficiency mode and stick to a steady 40 or 50 mph! Sometimes the heavy traffic on the motorway helps out

Lovely looking car.
I don’t is why but every time I see a sport back I think it looks weird without the roof rails.
Maybe it cause I have them so everyone else’s is not right

Roof rails give it a mini estate look which I like too
