SQ5 Arriving soon - 10 days and counting down - to a place near me...

Cool....and it's got matching number plates lol.
I think you need to explore more of the torque though with those embarrassing mpg figures haha

Later, c'mon, day #1 bringing it back home safe. RS3copilot has already done some low mpg runs wait till she needs shopping!

Need to get some V-power plus through the pipes, and she will...

Looks great in that blue. There are a few of these near me but they're all white or grey. Zzzz.

Blue, fast and tall FTW!

Just to add here: purchased this SQ5 from TT SPORTS AND PRESTIGE, Unit 17,Derby Trading Estate,Stores Road,Derby, Derbyshire, DE21 4BE

I found the advertisement on PistonHeads on Sunday 17th March, and it sure looked interesting, see:

https://www.ttsportsandprestige.co.uk/our-stock/9607859-audi-q5-sq5-326-quattro-5dr-tip-auto/

And with better presented pre-owned cars than any I've seen at ANY Audi dealership, ever...

And GREAT people...

Requested a video the following day, Monday, and that arrived on the Tuesday - see post #13.

STILL, mind, I couldn't believe what was on offer for the price and with only 19k miles.

Most know RS3copilot is on chemotherapy and most know that days several days to recover from the side effects post treatment and so I thought I'd just take a run up the A38 (in BLUEY) and check the car out for myself, casual like. But hey, the copilot felt OK and wanted to come to. And there we were, see #3.

And here we are, rock and roll:

Oh, and the A1 is still for sale, ish, but hopefully not for long, great car...

Best wishes to you both, I know what it's like to deal with difficult times and you do need things to look forward to.......our SQ5 is my partner's dream car so it was an easy decision for us and I'm sure for you too

Good luck to your other half with the treatment, difficlu times but good to hear that they could make the trip - and it was definitely worth it. Beautiful car, beautiful colour.

Health to enjoy.

Great story that John, love it

And hope all is going well with RS3copilot’s treatment

24-hour report: OK, 1-day in, and this SQ5 is a BLAST!!!!

So I went back to a report I did in 2015 following the Stafford Audi dealer meet when I first experienced this animal, see "Who wants a go in an SQ5 shouts Andy Poole":

Anyone wanting a low mileage unique colour Audi RS3...

This 2016 SQ5 is possibly the best Audi I've ever driven over variable roads and over several days, and most likely the best Audi I've ever owned - and I've owned, and still own, a few...

Wow, some statement John, good to hear. Was chatting to a salesman at Cheltenham Audi who I have bought a couple cars from over the years, he tells me diesel SQ5 coming possibly before end of year. Said he would give me a shout when he had one to drive.

Having had (and still have) two Q5’s, myself and Mrs Q5man do like the higher driving position and overall practically with teenage boys etc. Her JCW gives us a nice smile, but my 2.0 TFSI is just too dull, but is fairly quick (0-62 in 6.3) and 252bhp, but with tuning box takes over 300, but some theatre would be nice.

Let’s see what comes later in the year. He does also think there will be a RSQ5 at some point, but getting into an S or at least 3.0 would be a decent step for me.

Keep the write ups coming, is really nice given most in here are SUV haters

Had a 2019 2.0 TFSI loaner from Stafford Audi earlier this month, just didn't tick a single box, sorry. A 2019 2.0 TDi also, no way. 650Nm of torque from 1400 rpm is what it's all about. Forget the PS/BHP, non of that will pull you out of bed. But that 650Nm @ 1400 rpm, jeeeeeeeze!

And for 8-years I thought the 450Nm of the RS3 @ 1600 rpm was good!

This SQ5 baby with 650Nm @ 1400 rpm just P U L L S and P U L L S and P U L L S, EFFORTLESSLY!

That looks rather spankingly nice, great colour, but, can you get a large GSD in the back, if so that's a perfect bus for me.

I well remember 'spanking' @ Just Rob but a large GSD? Nope, Garden Swing Duo maybe? Way too old for that!

And in my view WAY better looking than all this 2019 angular stuff; ours is more cute, feminine, cuddly, shapely, curvy; know what I mean....

Sorry Sandra, just keyboard crunchin' out load....

Pleased you’re very happy with your SQ5, but I have to disagree with you regarding the way it looks compared to the Mk2 Q5’s, as I much prefer the angular stuff as it looks more ‘edgy’.....but it’s a good job we all like different things.

Reactions: 45bvtc and NevMan
I think the mk2 Q5 is a sharper looking animal than the mk1 but I just don't like the lack of a proper exhaust pipe, just looks wrong to me!
It's also a lot more expensive when buying new. My 3 year old car cost me £32k but had a list price of £57k the new SQ5 would have been over £60k for the same spec....that's just silly money imo for a private individual to stump up

They look quite big from the outside but are actually a bit like a reverse Tardis! Was struggling to fit 4 medium sized suitcases in the boot recently but our Cocker fits in no problem. I've got the longitudinal boot divider so she gets 2/3rds, if you had no divider and nothing else in the boot I think a GSD would be OK.

PS the tdi 'plus' model already has 700NM and a sports diff

Ah, but some of us like to do silly things with our money!

£54k after discount for mine, quite a lot cheaper than the Macan GTS I was looking at (£68k).

As for the exhaust, I can’t see it when driving, and I invariably reverse park so don’t see it then. I do see the VC, and the latest sat nav, google maps, android auto...

That is the one I am talking about

Have to agree with you there, whilst I would prefer 4 exhausts, nlt a showstopper. I am already thinking this “may” be my next car, all 700nm of it

I have had both MK’s, ok not a SQ, bit did drive a mk1 SQ5 at Audi experience day a few years ago, stonking as John is confirming above. I do however much prefer the MK2 angular/muscular look.

John, that is fair enough and very true, used is a winner IF paying cash. Unfortunately some of us aren’t there yet.

I love the shape of my Q5, but as you say it is pretty neutral driving wise.

No confirmed dates for this new diesel 700nm beast, but when I get a drive I will know if I want one

A £32k used would not be vastly different to £50k new on PCP, as far as monthlies go. Immaterial obv. If paid in cash.

Think I already want one

But the result is arguably a car better than ever before, boasting an impressive 342bhp and 700Nm of torque from its 3.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. That power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox, with the result 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds and an electronically limited 155mph top speed. Aiding efficiency is a 48v battery pack to make this a mild-hybrid powertrain, which kicks in to reduce fuel consumption when coasting or idling.

Depends on the haggled deal though tbh. I always thought the used apr from an Audi dealer was practically written in stone, but was offered 6% readily on a pcp. A new SQ5 you would get absolutely mullered on the monthlies with even just a few options tagged on to the deal
In the end though I just didn't want to be stuck in the pcp trap anymore

Good choice, used prices between plussed and non plussed don't seem to be that great, performance seems to be on a par with what they're quoting for the new tdi hybrid - which I though was a bit odd?

650Nm is more than enough to make a couple of OAP's smile....

I've seen more of your car than my own over the last few days, anyone would think you were rather smitten with it lol

I am Ju, hugely, so much so that my RS3 is gathering dust - looking more Floret silver than Cornflower blue...

I'm sure the RS3 will still find its place in the corner of your heart, 2 very different cars but both equally as good in there own ways.
It's a nice garage to have and one I'm certainly envious of!

Very true! We'll be using the TT more and that's for sure and the RS3 less and just for FUN! The RS3 was always a 10-year car for us and we're now at 8-years(?) This SQ5 is a very 'complete' car for us. And thank you for #47 post. No pics this time...
