It's true, I get very attached to my cars and they always come back and visit - but not my 1973 Lotus Elan Plus 2 S 130/5 that's now living in Nova Scotia, a tad too far to travel, but I do get the occasional greetings card - photos on request only...

Very nice John, I was very impressed with the TDI SQ5 when I drove one at Stafford. Just needs a remap to bring the best out of the engine.

Yep, that's what did it again Karl, darn that Sandra lady (

) and these Audi Dealer days; as you know we took 'em all over our local routes and that 286bhp diesel Q5 won over everything, for us. And then Stafford Audi dropped the price of that particular machine from £42k to 38k, oh dear; but that 2019 Q5 was't for me, way too many detail bits we didn't like! And then they loaned me another, but a 2019 2-litre diesel, and that ticked '0' boxes, no way!

Only 14-days ago I chucked me toys out of the pram and went looking again. And here we are, and this one's a CRACKER!.

Note my pre-RS3 S3 for sale in the classifieds. Tried to contact jojo but he must be 'away'. Hell of a car - and one I thought I'd never sell - to let slip to someone who doesn't appreciate a good 8L S3, maybe you, even...

164601 7069e3619f959116ea55ed34aeafef53

And I hear the re-map, but let's see where we are with the 'usual' home to Stafford County/home with the 650 Nm @ 1400 rpm first... :racer:

Seems soooo long since that Audi A2 with variable vane turbo issue/limp mode problems...

A tad early I know but Tonka's 20-inch winter rims and tyres have arrived:

Winters SQ5

C'mon snow....
13.gif

My TT, A1, and RS3 winter rims and tyres have now gotta go - no way we'll be using the TT and/or RS3 (and the A1's gone already) on winters with Tonka fully shod for the slippy stuff; adverts soon for OEM rims with winter tyres.

Also summer spare OEM 18-inch TT rims (with new Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres) and OEM 19-inch RS3 rims (with new MPSS tyres); its SALE time...

Haha, nice one John, all set for winter...just when the clocks have changed for summer.

I am counting down to a drive (when available) in the new SQ5 TDI. Third time lucky as wanted SQ5 when I bought my 1st Q5 Gen1. Probably too hasty with the switch to Gen2 2.0TFSI, but I love the shape, smoothness and is not bad on power, but no theatre, or 700nm for that matter Saving time

I'm sure the RS3 will still find its place in the corner of your heart, 2 very different cars but both equally as good in there own ways.
It's a nice garage to have and one I'm certainly envious of!

Very nice stable indeed , quite fancy an RS3 TBH and a TT now you mention it!

I do, I do, I do, I do, Sandra; and it did, it did, it did... I'll be seeing Andy Poole later this week - Tonka goes in for a 'new' MOT and FULL Stafford Audi Service - and for sure I'll be blaming him for persuading a couple of OAP's spending their hard-earned, lol...

So both of you, really, are to blame!

Rumour has it Q5man's attending the next meet... :readit:

Ok John, I will share the blame with Andy. It’s good to hear that @q5man may be attending the next meet, I’m sure we will enjoy reading about his next new car, lol. :) xx

Brilliant. :icon thumright:

My fires have been stoked after all these positive comments from John, so would be keen to drive the new SQ5 TDI when it comes out.

When is the next meet? Definitely up for it, assuming the social (basically when I get told to do things or go places), allows :whistle2:

The next meet will be arranged as soon as Stafford Audi have their new RS models available. Probably around summertime. :) x

Tonka's first TLC care of 45bvtc now completed; wheels have been off (3-times in all - us old 'uns don't sit down much) all 4-corners - hammer and wood block to persuade each due to hub corrosion; all wheels cleaned inside and out and TJ's ceramic wax coated - mega slippy now. ALL four brake disc hubs and outer vent faces cleaned, scrubbed, and/brass wire brushed, and then a coat of POR15. Unfortunately I'd only black gloss POR15 and the look wasn't good so a coat of semi-matt black acid etch primer added and the look is good - for us, and no more rusty brake disc/hub look from now on:

Tonkas rear brake discs

Don't ya just hate it when Audi fit some gorgeous wheels to their cars only to have the darn brake disc hub show 'rust' within days!

C'mon Audi, you can, should and must apply a better coating to your brake discs, it ain't hard, even UK OAP's can do it!

This thing is CRAZY

OK, this is new to me ish, novel maybe; but for sure I just can't wait, not (!) to get back in the RS3

evo reckon the peak torque on the new SQ5 TDI is only between 2,500 and 3,100 rpm. If that's true it's a bit peaky for an oil burner.

Enough to “peak” my interest. I will drive one or at least wait for official figures

And that's why the 2016 SQ5 motor is more interesting, and is Euro 6 Pluz, too!

But you're right, you need to run 'em back-to-back and then decide. We've done exactly that this year, and have decided, and acted, as demonstrated here... :yahoo:

It'll be like switch on it then switches off, no fun at all. The only way to get the torque band more spread out would to have a remap or a tuning box. But I bet the ECU will be tamper proof so the first option would be out...

I do t think it will be like that, but let’s see when more official stuff comes out, as at the mo like lots of other stuff it is speculation. If it is like this I will jus towel what I have.

Let me leave this here a while cos not everything coming is gonna be better than what we have already, EEC Emission Regs will see to that!

Absolutely! I must say I prefer the newer shape, and intervals, but end of the day the engine is key. May end up following you and getting a Gen1 though

Torque, and where it's at, is EXACTLY what makes the 8P Audi RS3 such a fabulous road going motor car, q5man, compare:

RS3 Power curve

And I can sure vouch for one of these... :superman:

If you're thinking of a Mk1 I'd recommend having a look at the plus SE, it was the runout model and looks like they emptied the accessories bin on it, just about everything as standard. After discount it could be bought brand new for £47K, a bit of a steal, I was a bit peeved it came out so soon after mine TBH:blink:.

The only thing I didn't like on my 2018 pre reg SQ5 was the 21'' Polygon alloys, managed to find a set of the 21'' Twin spoke V design from Germany & now against the Daytona grey paint it looks mint. Car had everything else I wanted spec wise just not those alloys for me.
