Morning everyone,
I have a short 2 mile commute to work each morning, I know I'm living the dream!
I've had my new Audi, 3.0tdi Quattro, for 6 weeks now and about 6 times on the way to work it has played up. Basically the lights dim and the battery light comes on. If I rev the engine it goes back to normal. I'm thinking the alternator brushes have worn??
Is there anything else that could cause this?
Thanks Mark.

Usual suspects to check, connections for corrosion, battery, alternator, fuse points.

I would say 1 of those will resolve it.

Thanks I'll check the battery connectors at least, can't obviously get to the alternator.

New battery fitted and everything works

The trouble is 2 miles driving is not enough time to the power back into the battery that it took out to start it. Worse in winter with lights and wipers etc.
Not getting the engine hot is another problem your going run into.
Time to start riding a bike.

Doom...I live on the Benthall side of ironbridge gorge and I take the scenic route to work. Revs are kept high (ish) 2500 and ahh I haven't touched 5th or 6th gear for a week or 3...
Don't mind giving the battery a slow charge while I'm tinkering on a Sunday afternoon.
Bicycle club nah!
