Hi

I recently got myself a Audi A3 2.0 TFSI Quattro with DSG. Its a 10 plate (2010). Done 91000 miles.
There is a rattle noise coming from the turbo, however there is another strange noise. The noise happens roughly after 25mph and around 75mph the steering wheels vibrates quite vigorously. This humming noise has been going on since I got the car, Friday gone I had two new front tyres (Michellin Pilot Sports 4). The noise is still there, would it be wheel bearing possibly?

Anyone experienced this sort of problem? It can be quite annoying.

Regards
Raj

Steering wheel vibration at 75 - 80mph has been a common fault on A3 Quattros in the past and can be the rubber donut coupling at the back end of the prop or the prop shaft and bearing itself. Audi will tell you you need the whole lot changed at some cost, £1200 was the last price quoted. Find an Independant Audi specialist who can diagnose exactly which part is at fault.
There are other causes in the drivetrain that give these symptoms but too many to mention here, so an Audi specialist needs to see what's happening under your car for both problems.
I would assume you have an engine code of CCZA same as mine, so also google 'Audi CCZA cam chain tensioner'. It's another serious malady that needs addressing unless yours has been done.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Hope the faults are not as bad as I think they are.

The constant noise could be a wheel bearing but the noise is usually worse when going round corners. You could swap the rear wheels for the fronts to rule the wheels out. Stones or debris stuck in the front brakes can give odd constant noises.
Only specialist I know anywhere near you is AwesomeGTI South Manchester, hope some others chip in with local recommended specialists, so you need to tell us which town/city you are in.
