Hey all

I wonder if someone could help, I’m looking for a definitive guide or set of instructions to enable chirp on locking ( and prefably the menu item too!) but I cann seem to find one that has 100% worked on our cars. (And I’ve read a lot of threads!)

I have a 2017 S4 avant running mmi 0918 software and would like to code this to help with my ocd of checking the bl**dy doors after locking..

I have VCDS and OBD11 so would really just need some help and hopefully hear from some people who have already done this.

Thanks in advance

Andy..

According to page 43 & 44 of the B9 manual, there is an option

car/vehicle/central locking/tone when locking

Are you not able to see this? Though it does state "this function is not available on all export models" so perhaps its only available for cars made for the German market.

Lock/Unlock "Chirp"

Description: For Q7 (4M) cars in the USA, when you lock the car, you will hear a single or double "chirp" (from a second sounder, not the horn). This is a good audible confirmation that the car is locked. This coding enables lock chirp on Non-USA cars but also enables an "unlock" chirp if/when the car is unlocked.
Notes: There are many options to configure including how long the chirps are, whether you want single or double chirps for lock/unlock as well as updating the indicator flashes to match the number of chirps. There is both Long Coding & Adaption Changes for this modification.
Usage: Once coded it will work immediately on lock/unlock. In addition, if you lock the car (if you have Advanced Key) using the padlock button on the trunk, the chirp will sound when the trunk is fully engaged. You can also turn off the "Chirp" via the MMI under Car / Vehicle Settings / Central Locking
Risk: Medium / High (Depending on number of options you change). Please note there are a lot of combinations below so please GO SLOWLY.

Coding:

Module 46 (Central Convenience)
Coding
Long coding
Long coding helper (VCDS)
Byte 4
Select/Tick "Bit 6"
Exit
Do It

This will enable the "Tone when Locking" option in the MMI under Car / Vehicle Settings / Central Locking

I followed this and did it with OBDEleven. Works on MY17 S4 saloon with convenience key. There are 2 stages - first make the menu item appear in the MMI, then turn on the chirps. You just have to take a leap of faith when changing byte 4 / bit 6 in stage one!

The power of a community

Thanks again guys, I’ve just enabled the first option chirp when lock and have the menu item too..

Much appreciated, who’d knew it shares the same platform as the Q7 eh.

.........pretty shure it's against the law in Germany for a car to make a noise when locked/unlocked hence the reason you have to enable it, should add German registered cars only.

Hey guys, I'm trying to get this to work on my q7 4m and it doesn't seem to work. I've done all the above for the chirping and I'm getting no sounds or beeps etc

Yes I have. I'm in Australia so I assume that the feature should work with our q7's

You'd think as the coding is the same as the b9 a4. Have you tried the ross-tech or odbeleven forums?
Do you have the full alarm system the same as us by the wzy...

I've had a lot of coding changed in my car and I feel they have turned off my alarm due to copying codes from an etron. Could you tell me which module needs to be adjusted for the alarm so I can confirm? I know by default my car had the alarm. I've attached a photo of a section that says theft alarm is not installed.

If I was you I would put the coding back to standard and start again, sounds like someone has done something dodgy to me...

I can't, I've got way too many retrofitted items such as matrix lights, b&o, massage seats, etron drls.

Could someone share the location of where the alarm code is so I can check what mine should be set to?
