How much should i be looking to pay for getting the drivebelt changed in my A3 (2001)??

Presuming you mean cambelt, should be about £300 at a VAG specialist, £450 at a dealer. Make sure they do the belt, tensioner/idler & most importantly the water pump at the same time.

///////and replace the water pump with the METAL impellor one......?!?!?

Cambelt - drivebelt......all the same thing isnt it?

anyway, those prices seem about what i have been quoted, thankyou

sorry to hijack th thread but im due the cambelt-water pump service soon. mines a TDI quattro, wat sort of prices should i be looking at? gonna do the ring around at dinner.

Should be the same, it's mostly labour with about £120 of parts.
Drivebelt/cambelt can be the same thing, but there's more than one drivebelt in your car, only one cambelt.

Only ever heard a cam belt been called either that or a timing belt. If someone asked me for a drivebelt i would give them an alternator belt.
