Alarm going off

Hi guys
We have a 2003 A3 1.9 Tdi sport and after we lock the car the alarm keeps going off.
Also when it's not doing that and the wife uses the remote to unlock then starts the car the alarm will start beeping briefly then stop allowing you to continue to drive.
Do you guys have any idea what could be causing this problem ?

Ours wasn't going off once locked, but we were getting 3/4 beeps on start up randomly
I replaced the alarm siren as the beeps are a warning the back up battery is failing
All been good since

Same as above but I didn't replace the siren just cut it open and attached new batteries. Easy enough and pretty cheap to do. All good now!

mine was going off at random whilst driving, i replaced car battery and alternator due to other issues and the alarm thing stopped.
