Hi guys picked up a 2006 A4 sline 1900cc 140bhp there a couple of months back. 111000 FSH.

Has a rough enough idle not always but mostly and sounds like a tractor (slight exsageration) when cold. After a quick search the signs related back to the PSV valve so took the oil filler cap off to check for suction but getting the oposit and theres air being pushed out when the cap is off also white smoke being puffed out when warm. Also get some exhaust fumes in the cab the odd time but not always.

Anyone have any ideas? Hoping its not worn rings?

How's performance?

They are a little rough sounding cold. Cleaning the injectors helped on mine, but a direct injection engines always going to be clattery . Liquid moly.

Performance has been spot on tho recent it doesnt have the best of pull going up hill. Turbo maybe on its way out?

Iv herd that they are tho im more worried about the smoke and oil splittering out of the oil filler cap? I'll clean the injectors tomorrow and see and do the PCV valve just incase for all it takes. Liquid moley diesel purge? The one that you connect to the fuel lines and run through or the diesel additive you throw in the tank? Thanks for the reply

Yep diesel purge, you can do either but if it's bad then rub through direct.

Are you loosing coolant at all?

A compression test would rule out rings

No worries mate cheers. No coolant loss tho have put about a ltr of oil it it the past 3 months. The yellow oil sensor warning comes on now and again (not often tho). Think ill get that done after i try the cleaner and pvc valve. How much you talking for a compression test from a local garage? Cant understand why theres oil spluttering out of the oil cap tho, everything iv searched about that points to a blow by and cracked piston rings.
