Hi, recently replaced the turbo on my S3 8l BAM with a hybrid rebuilt job from Midland turbo. Had It on the rollers at TSR in Bridgwater last week and struggling to get over about 262hp simliler with the torque. Putting this down to the restrictive downpipe and cats so going to replace in the coming weeks.

Have narrowed it down to these 3 options:

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/232594867490

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/300554599052

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/263564676752

Has anyone here got any recommendations? Or had experience with them?

I’m leaning towards the Scorpion system as looks lighter saves 8.5kg over standard apprently. The bottom one is a cheaper eBay item are there fitting issues with these?

The Scorpion is a TT 225 item but am I right in thinking that will be identical fitment to S3?

The majority of us tend to lean towards the middle one in your options list “Pipewerx” good quality and no fitment issues.

Thanks, my issue with that one is it looks allot thougher in the future to quickly add a cheap 3 inch sports cat due to the coupling. The scorpion would take almost any 3 inch universal cat on the market pretty easy.

I’m buying a 200 Cell cat and getting Badger5 to weld some V-Bands on it, cut out a section in the decat pipe so it’s quickly interchangeable. They did have to make a slight change in the pipe so it can couple up to my 3” Zinram catback system.

That sounds ideal. Just makes it easier come MOT time or if you just fancy some quiet time

For me it’s purely for MOT time :) not entirely sure how restrictive a 200 cell cat is. My exhaust is quite loud due to the packing has come out of my backbox apparently, according to “Profusion” but again Badger5 are going to open it up and see what’s going on in there. I may have to put in another silencer.

I can't say anything about those specific downpipes, but I've seen parts from Scorpion before and they look to be pretty good.

I'd steer clear of cheaper ebay stuff. Its never a great fit. My S3 had an XS Power downpipe on it when I got it and it didn't fit worth a damn. I got a custom downpipe and catback made up to replace it. The guy who made my exhaust commented that the guys who lined up the XS Power downpipe must have been drunk or cross-eyed because it just seemed like it would have fit some way alright if it was lined up a bit to one side when being made. It ended up nearly rubbing through the flexi where it was rubbing on the propshaft and it nearly wire through up higher too (as seen in the photos).

My advice would be to go with something good thats known to be a good fit for the downpipe as its such a pain in the *** to remove and replace if you need to take it off to get it adjusted etc. Also use a genuine gasket. Don't use what comes with whatever you buy.

I cant comment on the Scorpion as i did not even realise that was available.

Having just fitted a Pipewerx downpipe this weekend that would be my choice of the 3, the quality is very good as is the fitment. The closest it gets to anything is probably the heatshield on the tunnel and it clears that by 15mm or so.

I stayed away from the cheaper ebay ones as it seems completely random if they fit or not.

Pipewerx also sell it with a sports cat or decat, and the cat section on its own if you decide you want it in the future.

Thanks for the reply’s. The cheap one is definitely off the table. Might try and find out the weight of the Pipeworx as a comparison to the Scorpion as I like the sound of loosing 8.5kgs.

Can’t make scorpion commit to saying it will fit though as it’s made for tt butt I’m 99% it’s the same under there on both motors.

Re above im not sure why you don't opt for the high flow sports cat option save ******* about swapping around MOT time.

I used the pipewerx dp on my previous 8P it fitted well and had good gains on 2+
