I posted this on the A6 forum so I'm sorry if I'm repeating myself
I have a 1997 A6 Avant 2.5 Tdi SE. Its manual and on approx 160K. Ive had the car for a couple of years and I bought it with a full history
However, the heating has not worked for a good while now. All I can get is cold air. All the blowers work fine and the switches to alternate the blowers will work. But Im not getting any warm or hot air. I can set the climate control to Hi or Lo and the same temperature will be blown although the strength of the blowers alters dependant upon how warm or cold the ambient temperature is in the car.
When I switch the climate control on, there is no drop in revs that normally accompanies the air con.
My mechanic said it could be the control panel but hes spoken to someone who specialises in problems like this and he has said that the last half dozen or so that hes had to fix have been blocked as the system has a habit of silting up.
AKAIK, the system has not been regassed. fjtwelve on the A6 forum has suggested that this could be the problem.
I had a new timing belt fitted before the summer and found that when the front end was rebuilt, all I could get was hot air from the system. The system needed bleeding and more coolant adding and ever since then, cold air.
Can anyone help
Thanks in advance
