Facelift cars get rear DRL's. No option to turn them off on the MMI or via the light switch.
Just been out and started mine, Auto was orange and both side/headlights were green. So all my lights were on!!! Not that dull either...hmmm.On the S3 the AUTO symbol lights up orange and side light symbol green to indicate the DRL's are on. The TT only ever showed Auto lit up orange when DRL's were on.

Procedure:
VCDS will now dump all the data for that module in to a .CSV file in the debug folder. Repeat for as many modules has you have
- Run up VCDS
- Select Applications
- Select Controller Channel Map
- Controller Address = The number of the module you want to map out i.e. Central Electronics = 09
- Tick Adaptations
- Select CSV file
- Leave all other settings "as is"
- Select Go.
This is only the case for cars with Hold Assist (and it switched on). This has been commented on a lot on this forum. If using HA you need to be aware and put the handbrake on if stopped for a considerable time. But that's no different from stopping and holding the car on the footbrake anyway.I believe the DRLs are there so that cars coming in the opposite direction are more likely to register that you're another moving vehicle on the road. If that's the case there would seem to be no need to have the tail lights illuminated in the same way.
What I have noticed however is that when the car is stationary, by virtue of the automatic handbrake (activated by coming to a halt), the brake lights remain lit even when you take your foot off the footbrake pedal. I can only imagine that this will sometimes be a bit tiresome for a following driver if the rather bright rear lights of modern Audis remain lit all the time in traffic queues and at the lights.

There is on good reason to have the rears lit. All the numpties I encounter during my commute who drive on back roads with only DRL's in the semi dark who don't even know they've no back lights on and are virtually invisible to cars approaching from behind
All cars should have front AND rear DRL's as standard.

After I had the TT serviced in June, the dealer put the headlights back to the Off position. Next day I drove through the Clyde Tunnel in Glasgow and on entering the tunnel the car chimed and put a message on the VC screen saying "Turn on Headlights"!!

It's always dark in Scotland....Would be interested to hear from others with FL cars.
But I suppose if it's that dark, the car should have headlights on anyway.
Plus it gets dark at different times throughout the UK (for example) and even that varies depending on the weather so it'd be strange to simply rely on the time(?)
Exactly mate....Leds fade through use, just like any other light....

I noticed the last time l was in Glasgow Audis showroom,the cars rear lights came on.....but only the part of the cluster attached to the rear wing....so is this case...coz when l get me RS3 am gonna unplug the fookers...lol
Don't think they do. Light emitting diodes use a physical process that lasts a very, very long time. I expect that they would last well beyond the life of the car as long as they were not broken by a physical shock or over heating.
