Hi

I have a Audi 2010 1.6 TDI currently on 76,000 miles.

When I press the clutch down slightly there is a slight noise, but when i push the clutch down completely the noise stops.

The car has no issues when driving or gear changes and no vibrations from gear box.

I have recently had the cam-belt changed and vehicle had full inspection and clutch was confirmed as being fine.

I wondering if anyone could give me any idea if my dual mass flywheel maybe on its way out?

It is due to get checked over by my local mechanic next week.

Posted a video on you tube below.

Any help will be appreciated.

Mine sounded similar to that, mine was really noticeable on cold start in the morning, in neutral slowly lifting the clutch up was pretty noisy

Yes this was on a start up this morning, yes lifting the clutch up does bring a little noise not to bad at the moment.

Did you have yours replaced? And if so how much did you pay?

Just getting quotes at the moment.

This is another video done this morning which may shed some more light.

Slight noise on clutch movement

I think every clutch is loud when you hold it on the biting point, also my clutch is noisier on a cold engine but gets quieter after the car has been driven a while. Are you having any problems with the clutch?

In terms of price a new clutch & flywheel will set you back about £500

Hi Mujnu

The clutch is having no issues when driving at all, and no vibration or clutch slipping.

First quote I have had was £972 nearly feel off my chair, £500 sounds much more reasonable.

No vibration when pulling off either?
If you're having no problem with it id leave it as it is. If it ain't broke why fix it right? Lol

I take it that's a main dealer quote?! Lmao I use a vag specialist on my car and got my clutch and flywheel changed about a year ago and they charged me approx £500, can't remember the exact price. My advice would be to find a good garage/specialist and get your work done by them, as long as they use oem parts and know what they're doing. That way you save a tonne of money and you get a good job done too.

Yes no vibration when pulling off.

Surprisingly it wasn't a dealer quote we have a audi/vw specialist garage near where I live so just emailed for a quote price to be fair I wasn't surprised as when had cam belt changed in August they where asking £100 more than VW dealership.

The guy I bought the car from, he is going to get one of his mechanics to have a look next week. So will be good to get an opinion.

If I need it fixing will definitely be searching round for best price.

Thanks

Mine was juddering taking from from a standstill when it was cold, I paid £400 for a dual mass flywheel and clutch from darkside developments, plus £150 fitting at my buds garage.

To be fair, I got another 30000 miles out of it before I decided it was too noisy, (people started staring making wincing faces as I pressed the clutch in the morning)

Cheers guys, Yes to be fair its not to noisy at the moment, just when you press the clutch in when the engine is still cold there is some noise but it's not horrendous and a little noise when you bring the clutch to bite point. Its going get checked out some point next week to confirm if it needs doing or not.

what brand clutch and flywheel was it? Might get this done soon as my cars on 90k. I think the specialist here also charge a bomb...

Hi Sam

So far I have only had 2 quotes by 2 specialist in my area first wanted £972 and second wanted £700, the £700 was offering flywheel and clutch with clutch release bearing, while more expensive one didn't include release bearing.

Mine is going into my friends garage this week at some point to confirm if it does need doing or not.

Hopefully will be able to find it cheaper if it does need doing too.

It's most likely going to be either LUK or Sachs clutch and flywheel
