Facelift Facelift S3 saloon ibis white Turbo Technics V4

Started stripping to loose the chrome last night, you dont realise just how much individual parts there is until you start stripping.
I know most painters would just paint thw grill as one, but thats not something i can do lol.
Although i finished it last night i need to detail it before i post the finished result which will be this afternoon. For now heres some pics from the strip down and paint.

Ok so heres some pics now shes clean.

Picture heavy, hope you like

I've now got it exactly how i want it looks wise, but still kept a little chrome just to break it up from a black edition, also stole an idea from the new RS3 saloom and went for a full gloss black rear valance.

Looks good, almost tempted to ask you to do my PFL...

Seriously, like it like that especially in white. Can't see much of the chrome you've left though.

Ride Italian. Drive German. Kiss French.

Ive just left the badges and mirrors mate, just enough to break it up a little. I could help with your PFL if needed

The title of this one needs changed.
I'm left disappointed at the lack of Riviera blue.

Craig, that is a top notch paint job and I like the fact that you left the mirrors and badges as is. If, I lived in your neck of the woods and I curbed a wheel. I know where I would go to get it refurbished.

That's a frightingly looking awesome job you have achieved there mate..... 10/10

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone, just one person that needs a few private moments with the earlier pages, but im not gonna change the title as it tells a story about how i got to this point. I also love riviera but it doesnt dissapoint me not to see it. You make good thing out of an otherwise bad situation and create a solution, and thats exactly what we have acheived. Ive got a couple more subtle changes to make but they will be minor. Maybe an exhaust and an intake for now but we will see

We also have a hydro dipping tank so i could trial some carbon dipped painted covers rather than the aluminium covers?

The black styling looks perfect. Did you have to strip any of the chrome from the plastic, or is it OK to spray straight over the chrome?

Thanks mate, no i didnt strip any of the chrome. I basically treat it like bare metal and give it s good key then etch prime prior to paint. Some painters will disagree with me on this one as its plastic, but because its a metal effect plastic the plastic primer doesnt touch it, where as the etch grabs hold it rather than softening it up to get a key. So far this technique has seen zero rework, where as the plastic primer options always flake. Thats just from past experience

Took me 6 hours to do the paint, 1.5 hours to do the springs and half hour on the spacers and checking for clearance. You know what its like when youve got the tools for the job, try do it at home and it would probably take me a week lol with everything against me. But then again thats where it all started.

Dont know if any of you ever spotted my hybrid k04 A4 2.0 tfsi quattro, which then turned into the only top mount big turbo garrett gtx3076r in the country? Then the RS4 B7 respray witha few minor touches, thats kind of where it all started for me, feel free to take a look and see what you think

Would love to have access to such a workshop as you say mate makes life so much easier would have done the intercooler myself if I had.

Any links to your previous motors on here ? - would love to check those out too !

Totally agree mate, its something ive built up over the last 2 years but its getting there. I started from a garage round the back of a terraced house in leeds lol.

Heres the big turbo build
To get you started as this was the main build that took over my life. You will see why im a little reluctant to go mental with the S3.
