Is it normal to hear a slight turbo whistle between 2,300 - 3,000rpm and DV vent with a mild/brisk spooling of turbo pull away.

The car is only 1 week old and I noticed this today with the window down and radio off.
It's quite subtle but something I wasn't really expecting to be able to hear.
I've found a few threads that seem to suggest it's normal, once you wade through all the siren and moo'ing type threads.

Cheers

I can only refer to my old B5 S4 biturbo, but I'd say yes, with the window down and sound system off, hearing the turbo spooling should be normal (as is the short whoosh from the DV). I'd describe it as a faint 'metallic' whistle (I use the word metallic just to contrast it to a referee's whistle). I never had a turbo failure but I have heard plenty of recordings of them and as you, have read people's descriptions: Whistle is normal, siren or 'moo' is not.
