1.8T APU - Turbo Flutter

Looking at picking up a 1.8t Sport Avant tomorrow.

It currently has a forge dv I think.

Are these turbo's as standard capable of blanks or do they need to dump?

Its not ideal as the turbine shaft could snap due to being thinner than that of a garrett BB turbo. You could run the risk of it snapping with it in mind you may need to swap it out if it does.

Yea thats what I thought, didn't know if it was down to different types/sizes of turbo's.

Depending on how it sounds, I may change the spring or something.

A snapped spindle is likely to take out the whole engine, let a lone the turbo!..

Certainly not worth running the risk IMO

Absolute no no obligation these cars. Unlike the older Garret T2 and T3 units the K03 an K04 units are far more brittle when it comes to the forces exerted on them when chopping air. Also worth noting that not having a DV will also make a mess of the fueling.
