What shape is the fuel tank?

Hi,

Does anyone knows what shape the fuel tank is?

If the fuel tank is rectangle, then I'm assuming the fuel gauge will be show a true reflection of how much fuel there is left. So for example, if the fuel gauge is showing half way, then does that really mean I've got 50% fuel left (see 'Actual' in picture below)?

But if the tank is triangle shaped (See 'Deduced' diagram) then if the fuel gauge is showing half way, then the fuel will quickly get used up because of the shape of the tank, and I'd better get myself to the petrol station ASAP:

Best not to let the tank get too low. Get used to the behaviour and it doesn't really matter if the guage is a bit non-linear.

I could have sworn it was a saddle tank, to account for the prop shaft in Haldex cars, but maybe I've got mixed up with another car.

You could be right V8 for 'Haldex' cars.

I should add above pics are from a 1.4 petrol Sportback.

The OBD gives a percentage readout, 5% is when it says 0 miles. Not sure how accurate that is though
