So phoned my nearest dealer (audi victoria - sytner) in london and they quoted £279 for an oil change service - WTF!!!

I only do ~ 6000 miles but mainly town based and the odd long run and car's now coming to being nearly a year old. I phoned Chingford Audi but they were still asking I think over £250 for essentially 1.5 hrs worth of work. What's everyone else do - considering independent but worried about warranty?

Do a search on here, think most get it for around £160 from the main dealer.

The oil is quite expensive remember.

And my experience of VAG cars. They always flag up for a service at 12 months even when set to flexible servicing, if miles are below 16-17k.
But flags up sooner if over this amount in a shorter period.

Seem to need oil change every year regardless of mileage.

No they don't, I only do 5k a year and mine was set to flexible, as thats how they are set in the factory, and never flagged up anything within the twelve months of ownership. I had to get audi to set it to fixed and now it states the correct time schedule..

In the EU, they cannot invalidate the manufacturers warranty due to EU Block Exemption legislation. But they have to follow the Manufacturers Servicing regime TO THE LETTER, use GENUINE Parts (or OE Equivalent), consumables and fluids, and be able to document and demonstrate that they have done this (receipts etc.).

However, the car still won't benefit from the Manufacturers Updates etc., which on the 8V can only be done by connecting the car up to the Audi AG Factory for downloads. An Indy will/may also not be aware of the latest TSB's etc.

Ditto with me. They are supposed to change it before handover if you tell them you are going to be low mileage. But they didn't in my case. I got them to change it at first year oil change/inspection service. (£180 I think - but I didn't have to pay because I took the £399 for 3 years servicing deal.)
