AC Evaporator

My air con keeps losing it's gas and a local workshop told me it's the evaporator. I've found one on ecstuning (might be cheaper somewhere else). However i'm told it is a dash out job, is this true? Has anyone done this job before?

Wondering if it's worth having a go myself or just dropping it off.

If you mean the one thats located inside the car then I believe its dash out... although you have to cut part of the centre console so its possible you can get away without doing it... I had to remove the dash on my A4 when I swapped it out...
