Shock diameter 50/55mm?

Is there an alternative way of finding out the diameter of my shocks as im currently away from my car and wanted to order some uprated shocks.. E.g using reg

2.0 diesel are 55m im 99 % sure on that , i have a 1.6 petrol mine are 50 mm
