Right I thought id share my experience with Dsg gearbox Limp mode. I bought the car back in April with little or no service history which I thought didn't really matter the fact the gearbox hadn't been serviced as I loved the car!!!

Just a wise word for you buyers if the car has not been serviced by Audi then the gearbox oil has not been changed!! which is definitely a must and could be a good bargaining tool..............

I have experienced the gearbox limp mode which was diagnosed as an issue with the mechatronic unit. My advice would be take your car to a Volkswagen Audi specialist with Vag com on this occasion I used Andy's Vw centre in St Helens who in my opinion are **** hot knew exactly what was what.

Mechatronic unit was removed sent off for testing and repair which was a bit of a squeaky bum moment. One week down the line issue was repaired luckily for me however in excess of........... £1100.00 which in my opinion was money well spent car drives better happy with the service from Andy.

All in all when your buying check the service book for stamps and when test driving hammer the car with the paddles and in sport mode get it up to temperature too which should be quite quick. My opinion if the gearbox has never been serviced walk away or if you've got deep pockets barter the price down be cause these cars are amazing to drive.
