Hello
Drove to Manchester and back from London over the weekend and I've come across a problem with the car but not sure what's causing it ?
The whole way there and back on the motor way the temp gauge was around 65-70 degrees and once I come off the motorway and stopped at some lights quite a lot of smoke was coming out the exhaust to the point I couldn't really see the cars behind , carried on driving stop / start through the city gauge went up to 90 and never smoked again. On the way back it done the same at 70 when stopped at idle

You've got a stuck open stat for sure. Once engine is up to 90c it should stay there.

You've got 2 different issues going on there! Which engine have you got?

Blue thick oil smoke or white steam type smoke? Have you checked engine ccoolant and oil levels?

My coolant level hasn't really dropped but it's blue smoke

OK, first thing is check pcv valve under inlet manifold and all breather pipes, sounds like either PCV is knackered or a blocked breather pipe. What's oil level like, second thing is remove rubber hose to throttle body and tell me if its full of oil.
