morning chaps,
got back late lastnight from gatwick and noticed when i pulled up at home that a coolant leak appeared, i checked this morning and think i found the problem, top of the radiator.

it also seems to be buzzing for some time after i've switched the engine off?
so if anyone can tell me what it is and if its something i can fix myself?

Looks like the auxiliary electric coolant pump and it is buzzing after ignition switched off because it carries on running post engine shut down to ease latent heat build up and ease after run engine cooling. If the pump is the fault and cause of the leak, which would be easily diagnosed with a simple cooling system pressure test, then the replacement is fairly simple process. The usual issue folks have with DIY cooling system jobs is re-filling the cooling system post repair and air locks are encountered causing poor circulation faults. The pressure test, although simple, does however require pro tooling which the enthusiast is unlikely to own. If you feel this is a bridge too far then contact Audi specialist for works to be done. If you need more help please ask or contact me via our website.

you can pressurise your cooling system using a tyre foot pump connected to the small connection on the right hand side of the header tank.

no need for expensive equipment.

If it's the Aux pump, I got one off eBay for £38. Works perfect
