So I went camping in the boat/S3,
700mile round trip to Newquay.

While there I charged the phone twice and camera once.

Through, the battery is Massive it will be fine........ Nope!

Tryed to start her and found out that bat was flat!

Got a tractor over to jump the old girl. Just as I was going to do this a man ran over and said ...

STOP!!!

Seems when you want to rump start a S3, you needs EVERYTHING on at once to not blow the ECU!

So just a warning to people, either do not be a plonker like me and run the engine when charging, or expect to get a jump!

Hope I saved someone ECU, from awarness thread
:)

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean 'you need everything on'?

Thanks

It's a problem with the ECU not being able to deal with the extra power of the battery + the battery of the car used for jumping.

I had all lights on , radio , heated seats etc to use some of the power so it did not over load the ECU.

It worked and no issues.

The ECU issue only happens when you use **** booster packs, not using normal jump leads.

If the tractor was 24v then this would have obviously been a stupid idea too!

24v Tractor battery - why you thought that was a good idea I do not know!

It was 12v.

Let's be sensible now, I am only telling people that I was told.
