How much coolant?

Hi guys, I swapped out my CTS yesterday and still have the problem with the temperature gauge. I've ordered the thermostat and I'm about to order coolant but I was wondering how much I should buy?

Had a quick search but couldn't find anything on volume!

What car do you have??

If its an S3, i think its about 2 bottles that you need (I think they are sold as 1.5l bottles from the dealer) I think the latest is red in colour.

Eurocarparts do one which is less than a tenner for a 5ltr bottle.

Yeah a 2001 s3, I'll get on euro car parts and get it ordered!

According to my book my A3 1.8t holds 5 litres of coolant. would be the same for your S3 I'd have thought, and you want a 50/50 mix for normal running, so you'll need 2.5 litres of coolant.
Red/pink coolant is usually long life protection (5yrs average), the blue is only 2 years and the price difference is ****** all...

Aye I got a 5l ready mixed from euro car parts for under a tenner with free delivery! Seems to have done the trick.

It's nice to have the car heating up normally now that the thermostat is changed out!

mine was so bad the gauge didn't even move until stuck in traffic..
