Hi all, decided to get my new s3 in the workshop for a full service and cambelt change. And my god what a job the belt was... 5 hours later!!! Here's a pic of the space you have!!

If you're going to try do this without taking to a garage, I'd not bother as the f******* engine mount bracket is a nightmare!!

Today my TIP came off whilst driving and the car started hissing as per expected, so I took the plunge and ordered the Badger5 TIP from awesomegti.com! Anyone know how long they take to come through??
Thanks guys.

Oh and here's the motor as she stands..

Car looks nice mate. I tried to change my belt but got stuck at the engine mount. It was a can of worms and I'm certainly no mechanic. I thought sod it I'll stick it in the garage even tho I grudge paying someone else to work on my car.

Thanks dude, yeah it was a pig... I almost threw it across the workshop once it was out. Have you changed your turbo intake pipe?

I am a mechanic and it took me a long time to get my head around the engine mount thing... These days I just jack the engine up a bit a wriggle it round the back just to get it out the way.

Looks tidy though mate... Always loved the BBD CH rims, although some spacers would set it off a treat!

Yeah I swapped my intake pipe for a b5 one. Fortunately that was more DIY friendly.

Pic when I swapped them over

I have but at the same time as the turbo and the gearbox was out at the time as well... Will greatly improved access as you can imagine!

Still, the TIP aint too bad once you're there...

Yeah dude It came with spacers on! Guess I need even bigger ones to make them more noticeable! Looks decent from behind to be fair.
I'm also a mech but specialise on trucks, everything is a bit more accessible! The guy who owned it before has put a 'silicon hoses.com' tip on and it works it's way loose every time I try to tighten it up!! So hopefully il have mine asap!!

Cool, I'd love to do a hybrid turbo swap on mine one day! The badger5 I order is the non billet fitment but my turbo currently has the billet on it. How are these removed? Bolt on/off. Just so I know what to expect when fitting. Cheers
