My coolant warning light has just come on. I've checked it and it's pretty much on line with the minimum mark. I've got 120 miles until I get home, will it be ok? The light has stopped now I have stopped the engine and set off again.

Any coolant is better than no coolant, so ideally, you'd top it up with plain water until it gets to midway between min and max.
Beware of opening a hot expansion bottle though, best to let it cool down first.
Then when you get home, buy some G13 coolant to top the remainder up to max, and read this FAQ on Coolant Loss:

Coolant loss on the 8V is a known issue, there is a TPI, but no fix as of yet.
Golf R owners also reporting coolant loss.
