Upgrading to HID's. What do I need and how do I do it?

I have an A3 1.6 sport 02 plate.
I need to get new headlamps anyway due to bad condensation inside them both. I am wanting to upgrade to HID's but don't know what I need and if they'll work in the manufactured headlamps. Can anyone help me and possible send me pics of theres if they have done it themselves
