Best engine oil for a 97' A3 1.6 petrol on 140k miles?

Hi all,

Finding alot of conflicting info on which engine oil to use on my A3. Its on 140000 miles and goes through alot of oil. I'm just about to change the oil and filter but not sure which is the best grade to get? I thought it was 5-40w fully synthetic but that 10w-40 would be better because of the miles.. then i did a few searches online and keep reading 0w-30 or 5w-30???

Any recommendations? cheers!

I'd say 5w40 from what I gather on higher mileage.
