Where do I find my engine code?

First article I have seen that narrows down the potential issue to another marker.

I doubt they will change suppliers - there will be insurance policies, rebates, discounts etc that VAG can leverage to make it work in their favour. Not that easier either when your have factored in a particular supplier in your build program (which for the EA888 is probably another 8-10 years).

On the build sticker, either inside your service booklet, or behind the trim the rear 3/4 panel in the boot, by the inside of the LH rear light outer cluster.

But if you have a EU S3 8V your engine code is CJXC

The VW Group have a dual-sourcing (and multiple-sourcing) policy within procurement and engineering, so it might be that the article is being naive in not realising that. Or the story could have legs
