Polishing windshield

I have tons of micro dents on my windshield (like tiny stone chips). Has anybody successfully been able to polish these off? I got 3M glass polishing compound.

No you'd be better off getting a new screen

The only way to get them out is to sand down the glass then polish out the sanding marks (that will be really really fine) with cerium oxide and rayon felt pads, just the same as would be done with paint really. But glass is much harder obviously and will take a very long time - a scratch only a few inches long could take an hour to polish out correctly!
