Hi all, So im replacing my rear discs and pads, but my carrier bolts are seized and are proving a ******* to undo. This (A3 1.6 Rear Discs Possible To Remove Without Removing Caliper) says it is possible to remove the disk without removing the carrier. I can't see how that's doable as the disc's center section seems to prevent pulling it away from the carrier. Any ideas?

Take the bolt out of the top suspension link it will allow the hub to come forward enough to be able to get at the bolt. You will need to support the hub though once the bolt is out and they tend to corrode tight nicely but it's the best way i've found yet.

Bear in mind it's a stretch bolt so should be replaced as well.

Thanks bmh.01, gave up with the ******* carrier. Managed to get the spline socket in them, but they are so ****** tight, I can't budge them. Just popped the new pads in (after a taxi ride to ECP because they have me the wrong pads!!) .... What a ****ty day. Those discs will have to do for a week or so until I can get to a garage.
