I am a fairly new owner of an 8P S3 - And my god what a car! Wash time Sunday i noticed this..
This is fairly amusing - The fact that Audi UK Have REFUSED my corrosion claim and are now attempting 'Bribery' - although they state that this is a defect 'from factory' with the paint.
Paint step readings - Came back fine - This is original Paintwork...
This is what i said to Audi,
I found a little spot of corrosion on the vehicle which I forwarded to Audi (Guildford) for their comments and took the vehicle for an inspection - To which Audi UK have rejected the claim, sadly.
According to them the issue is a 'Dirt in the paint' defect. Now I did not spray the vehicle - So Audi should be liable to rectify the issue? All paint step readings came out accordingly so no paint has touched the affected area since factory. As you can see by the images it is quite an odd place and something I have not seen before. I believe Audi UK have also stated that it is because of its age? The vehicle has completed a mere 58000 miles and is only 6/7 Years old. I have not just paid well over 10k for a car that is 'old' ! My concerns are if moisture gets underneath the affected area this will become drastically worse over time - So would like to deal with it early on but do not see why I should be responsible for further expense on my part.
I do believe that this is quite the Luxury brand as Manufacturers are concerned - and I didn't expect that response from a prestigious car maker.
There reply was:
Hi Dan,
I have had a response from warranty today reference the claim.
Unfortunately the repair is not covered under warranty and there is no goodwill available, this is because it is surface corrosion as opposed to through corrosion.
I understand you will be disappointed with this decision, please let me know if you would like an estimate for the repairs.
I called the chap dealing - He stated over the phone that he is adamant this is a defect from factory and that clearly previous owners didn't notice.
Audi are now saying its a 'Stone Chip' lol !
So i said that i thought there Blunt decision is a bit of a joke. Chap will phone me back.. !
Got the phone call back:
They suggest that before it gets escalated to Audi UK - as a dealership they will try and help me out.
The whole Rear 1/4 panel is to be cut out - under warranty, and replaced.
1 week without the S - They will put me in a courtesy vehicle.
In return - I have to show my loyalty to Audi by purchasing a service (Oil/Filter) amounting to an astounding £365
As it was just serviced independently before i bought it - This would be a waste of time.
I asked if the price can be jiggled and can i have the works done now and service next year (Nope cant do that).
Call you back Sir,
Call back a further half hour later,
" The price has been adjusted to £159, but you have to have the service done within 2 months"
Whats the point in draining perfectly good oil to put new back in. There ISNT!
Another call back - Okay pay for the service now - We will get the warranty work done and have the service done in 2014.
Okay - Not bad. This seems to be the best i can get. Which is still POOR and its virtually Bribery!!
Whats your thoughts on this Audi guys?
