Oil Filter housing

What a struggle that was to remove the oil filter housing plastic cap.
Not having the right tool to do the job to remove the cap.
And when I did remove the cap and filter there is always a small amount of oil you cant remove in the bottom of the filter housing.

Yes.
Most oil filters are underneath the car.
Why on did they put it on the side of the engine near the top.
