Hi all,

I've just bought myself a set of 17" wheels for my A4 B5 off ebay.

The offset is ET40 (as opposed to the standard ET45); and the rim width is the same as my 16" ones at 7J.

I'm looking to fill as much of the arches possible, and bring the speedo over-read down.

I'm therefore looking at 215/55/17; will this sit ok without rubbing on the suspension components?

Cheers,

Grant

Id probably suggest either a 225-45-17 or a 215-45-17 personally to fill the arch you would be best off getting a set of 18" alloys and a subtle drop.

As above really. I imagine that 55's will be a bit ballon like in those sizes.

I'd opt for 225/45/17's myself.

225/45R17 is the standard factory fitment for 17" rims on the B5.

225/50R17 scrub on the arches, and look a bit stupid, as my brother had some on the car as winters. 55's would be even worse.

The speedo overread is intentional, it overreads by about 5mph right across the range deliberately, due to the law which states they can overread by upto 10% but cannot underread at all. To cover themselves, they calibrate the speedo in the middle of the range.

Cheers folks! Gives me some ideas at least...
