2002 A6 3.0 V6 Quattro Sport (petrol) - advice on this car??

I've found a very nice V6 Quattro - 2002 - 3.0 220 bhp - immaculate with 99,000.

Can anyone out there advise on this model and this engine?

Pros/cons/gotchas... ?

I am aware that this will be a hungry beast - not too concerned tbh - just need to know if its a reliable good running vehicle from someone with 1st hand experience.

Ok - looked at the V6 with my brother (Mechanic of 20 some years) - amazingly good ocndition but with a busy oil leak at the front more or less below the crank - my brother has said the following:

* Likely a blown crank shaft seal or cam seal if further up.
* Car drives perfectly - no loss of power or response ( just oil
* No unwelcome noises or knocks
* Suggested a strip out of front end and replace all obvious seals plus a new timing belt and maybe even water pump also.

The guy selling it will part with the vehicle for £1000 - my brother will do the work for zero in the evenings - I'm only out the parts.

Thoughts on this from the more technical folk on here?
