I have a type of humming/whurring noise when i reach to a speed of maybe 40+ from the rear of my A3 i was thinking that its maybe the wheel bearing if so can anyone recommend any good ones and a supplier and also would you change both or just the one thats gone???

Cheers

I am not saying that it's the wheel bearing going, but the golf I have just sold for an A3 had stepped tyres. I took it to the garage thinking it was a wheel bearing, but they said it was due to the tyres being stepped. The sound was like a dud-dud-dud-dud noise that of course increased with frequency when going faster.

Just something to think about.

Try weeving side to side when said noise is noticeable. If it comes and goes then it a wheel bearing it stays all the time then most likey it's the tyres stepped.

mine does it too its really anoying after a wile it starts to hurt the ears i just turn up the radio to drown it out till i can drop on some good tyres..
