Right the S3 failed its MOT on headlight alignment. The rear sensor was shot so it has been replaced and still no joy. The offside cant be adjusted manually as the adjuster is shagged apparently.

My question is do the headlights have to be re-set using Vag-Com or should it work if everything works as it should be.

you may need to clear the fault code in the xenon control unit to get it to start levelling again.

Either way you'll want to scan the controller and see why its not adjusting the lights properly.

This is the exact problem I had a couple of weeks ago, was quoted £1300 by Audi to fix the problem which involved replacing both headlights. Decided to bodge the adjusters myself so they could raise them enough to 'pass' it

This is what i think will end up happening

Do you have to have the full version to scan that module matey?

Im going to source some lights off a broken S3 now, or get some halogen ones and swap what i can. I don't have the full version no, i have the lite version but i don't know if i will be able to use it even if i pay for that to be registered
