new clutch needed after remap??

I think you would have to declare the new shoes as they make the car potentially more attractive to steal - sucks i know. You couldn't claim they were standard issue as they were'nt a dealer option till late 2002 (correct me if im wrong) and all the options the car was supplied with are coded on the build sticker!

you dont need a new clutch, but you DO need to tell your insurance..

Nervus, yes you should tell them.

ONLY my remap bumped up the price.

Samcos, DV, spacers, Porsche Brakes, Quick Shift(taken off) didnt .. But are listed on the policy..


as for wheels, they are also listed under my optional extras as they are factory fitted.. ie "non standard alloy fitted to a new car" i believe there is a different description for aftermarket alloys.

What an incredibly myopic view. How exactly facing the cost of 2 cars plus potentially hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damages can be the "least" worry is doubtful. When the event gets put through court you'll also have to explain to the judge that you also have no insurance, which will increase your "responsible driver" status immeasurably /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I'd also be hopping mad if you mowed down my wife and due to insurance being the "least of your worries" there was no financial comeback for the potential long term rehabilitation that invariably follows serious RTAs

I'm sure the burden of such an unfortunate event will weigh greatly on a persons consience, but for the sake of a couple of hundred quid saving you'd risk bankrupting yourself and your family.

Here's the thing, my S3 costs me £670 to insure with every modification declared - and the sheet declaring them is a complete A4 page.

It need not be expensive, but in the current climate of anti motoring lobbying it CANNOT be worth ANY risk...

Please go and think, and maybe adopt a more socially responsible attitude.

Re clutch, it will be fine.

My clutch works well up to about 280lbft, but on the highest boost mode (over 300lb/ft) it does slip in the higher gears.

Yeah same as my wheels but jedi has added his retrospectively so he should maybe tell them. How pathetic it is, having to notify things like Samco's DV's etc. What next notifying optimax running?

True, it's very poor, but then in the face of every man and his dog claiming for accidents, personal injury etc etc the insurers are giving themselves as many get out clauses as possible. It's easy to say the insurers are being fascists, theives, blaggards etc, but in the democracy we live in we are forced to take collective resposibility for the actions of others who make all the claims.

To highlight the point, I was quoted £59 for the installation of an aftermarket air filter on top of my price above for the S3. I told them it was one of the few parts I hadn't changed, and they took the charge off again - but the attitude is poor.

The crux of the matter is that everything needs to be declared to avoid costly (and potentially life changing) comeback if things go horribly wrong. At least you have a nice A4 page of mods to look over as you pay the extra.

Im 21, and mine cost an absolute bomb to insure fully declared... I declared the following:

Turbo upgrade to ~300bhp
Full Exhaust system
Air intake system
Front Mounted intercooler
Porsche Brakes
Aftermarket alloys (cheaper to insure than optional extras!!)
Lowered suspension
Full bodykit and colour coding

I paid ~£2200 fully comp, 1 years NCB, FULL european AA breakdown cover, medical/legal cover .etc .etc from adrian flux. It was about 100% up on the standard policy price, but then again, the power is up more than 100%, so i saw it as a fair price!

My point is that i COULD have saved myself over £1000 by not telling them, but there is NO WAY the insurance company would pay up in the event of an accident so its just not worth the risk... For the few ££ that it costs just do it... Its such a small amount that you WONT really miss that gives you so much more protection.

I avoid all the major companies who give comedy quotes for mods, I figure that if I send / fax / email a mod list to the specialist ones with a few weeks to spare, I'll pick the most sensible quote then /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

NLW, the deal is only available untill the 7th Jan. If you get it done on the 30th you will not be entitled to the discounted price. I checked this with AMD and this is what they told me even if I was to pay for the upgrade in the discounted period and get the upgrade latter they would not do this.

Best to check otherwise you could be a very unhappy boy when it comes to payment.

in my excitment I missed a month!! try telling that to my sales manager!! he would have a stroke on the spot!!

I will let you know how it goes as the AMD guys seem like a soundo bunch and know there stuff. not too pushy, very informative and give good guidance on other things that may help but not essential ie exhaust, dump valves.

Had nothing but bad things to say about air filters which makes sense as they are carbon sheeted or sth.

For those of you who did not see what a remap and a carpark full of snow can do to your clutch heres the pics from last year.

BEWARE THE SNOW FILLED CARPARKS THERE IS TARMAC UNDERNEATH

It was fun while it lasted but I wont be doing it this year.

I hate giving the insurance companies any more than they already steal off me, but for the sake of £150 it has to be worth at least the peace of mind that you're fully insured should the worse happen. Fair enough they'll probably never find out, but can you take that risk? I know for sure my balls aint big enough to do it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
