I've had this checked this morning and a dud battery.
Charging fine but discharging really fast.
Only got it in October from Eurocarparts (Lion Battery (027 Battery - 3 Year Guarantee)
Phoned ECP and they say can't get refund/replacement without receipt even though I have order email
Yes alternator is new
Usually when the alternator isn't working correctly the battery symbol stays on with engine
Gonna try get the car diagnosed tomorrow
∆ the above didn't read voltage
Took it on a drive again (about half hour) after JumpStart and after switching engine off it still fails to start on its own.
Last time my alternator was bad though, the battery light would stay on with the engine but it doesn't this time.
I could get a new battery tomorrow but it might not be the issue.
Hi,
i had a new battery and alternator fitted around 6 months ago and car has been fine since (A3 TFSI 2.0 2006)
Today the car failed to start and no electronics would work
After jumpstarting and driving around 20 minutes everything seems ok but i want to know why this could happen.
Plugged in...
Tried to book in with Stattler Development in Sheffield but fully booked next 3 weeks.
Any other recommendations around South Yorkshire? Guessing all the high reputable ones will be booked up though
Thanks I will get it checked
Won't be anything to do with HPFP cam follower will it? As last I changed it, it was badly worn down and they said same would happen again
I know it isn't brakes or timing belt, seems to be coming from the engine.
Gets louder as engine gets warmer
Any ideas what this could be? Plus who would be best to look at this (south yorkshire)
Thanks
Hi,
My A3 passed its MOT but with minor defects
1: drive shaft joint constant velocity boot severely deteriorated Offside Front Outer
2: Coil spring corroded (both nearside and offside)
Want to sort these out as soon as I can, what price would I be looking at? I know the CV joint will need...
Today whilst driving my heating stopped working, then every warning light came on dashboard, power steering went then dead.
Failed to start.
Guessing it's my alternator?
Would jump leads be no good to get home?
Hi,
I had my existing battery checked and was told it's ready for changing.
So I've got a new one installed.
Engine Management Light has now gone from dash and car seems to start fine.
However when car is started, the battery symbol stays on dashboard for around a minute.
Isn't a good sign...
