Now there's an awesome idea; a little A2DP BT->Aux bridge. Bet there's loads of folk that would love that for their cars. I assume the Audi BT module is just a black-box, no API or connectors or anything?
On a slightly related note, are there *any* OEM options for getting tunes over bluetooth in an A3? My car's got BT from the factory, but just for calling as you'd expect. The irksome thing is that I have mates with cheaper motors whos BT is all singing and dancing by comparison. The other thing...
I certainly did, but not all CDs have CD-TEXT on them - in fact it's rare to find an original CD with them on - most are the CDs which I've burnt myself and selected the option to include CD-TEXT. FYI - also plays MP3's and allows you to browse by folder and display the ID3 tags.
Thanks for clearing this up, this is a tree I'll stop barking up in that case. I'm writing a few scripts to control the output of a jailbroken ipod touch and I uncovered the ability to spit out track info down the dock port. Now if there'd only been a way to get the HU to recognise it eh? :)
Hi guys,
As some of you've read in my previous posts, my motor's got the very shoddy Audi iPod dock, which I'm trying a bit of software hackery to make a bit more functional (useful) - which I'll post up here as a guide if all goes well...
But, my investigations have come to a dead end, as...
I just burn them onto a CD with a folder for each album, and the head unit seems to figure out (either from the filename or MP3 tag) what order they should play in. It has a fairly decent "browse" function as well for navigating through your folders using the knob on the front or your steering...
I've got the Concert III head unit and yes, the iPod integration is pants! The one, not very documented feature is that it will play MP3s off a CD, it even allows you to browse through folders and shows trackname, album info etc if the MP3 has them. I've not found an upper limit on the amount of...
Like it a lot. would have to get a new surround though as had to butcher the existing one to fit the slightly wider Concert HU (got one out of a larger model - A4/6 or something).
Saw a mint example on here of a guy who'd fibreglassed and filled around his new HU and it looked the business...
******, knew it couldn't have been that simple! thanks for the reply though - saved me the cash to find out it wouldn't work!
Wondering if it's worth to try another replacement Concert I HU or if they're all dying by the time they get this old?!
bit of a follow up-- whilst in traffic today I fiddled with the Bass/treble/fader controls and they're erratic too, so maybe it's just the screw on the nob that is loose as per the link above.
Anyone done the repair before?
My 99 A3TS is now on it's second concert HU after the first one got the all-too-common dodgy volume knob. Now it seems that the replacement is going the same way!
I've just been reading this http://www.erta.ru/review/chorus-problem_eng.shtml and I'd guess it's the EEPROM failure, not the simple...
