In the 5k miles that I owned my 2009 A4 TFSi Quattro S-Tronic with Stage 1 Revo map, my average according to Fuelly was 24.5. The worst mpg was 19.3 (238 miles on a tank) and best 34.7 (400 miles on a tank). 80 miles on £20 around town was bout the same for me too.

Don't get DSG, stick with manual.

razza1 above is defo the man to listen too, he has had more than his fair share of S4 gearbox & clutch issues.

Lack of Trust - Exactly how I felt about mine after spending £2k on the cam chain tensioner repair after I had owned the car less than 6 months, and then many gearbox warning lights appearing in the space of 1 month. (it also had the oil consumption issue fixed just before I took ownership)...

Will revo re-map affect any warranty claim with third party warranty company?

Forgot to add my car has Revo remap, so not sure if that will affect any claim/goodwill.

When I scanned with Carista it showed no fault codes, but is it best to find someone with VCDS as that may be more reliable?

Would the speed sensor loom cause the "gearbox malfunction" light to illuminate and also cause the early gear change 'characteristic' as described above? (in your opinion of course)

I haven't noticed or felt any other symptoms. Gear changes all seem to be fine, no jerking or anything. Only other 'characteristic' I have noticed is when it decides to change up in to 7th before 30mph, but this is quite a rare occurrence.
