This thread has reminded me that i really need to look at making a sump guard, im now running 35 profiles on the font and the suspension is the lowest its ever been, if i smashed the sump id be sick as a chip
I know there are 2 types the ones on the early car with nothing at the bottom and the ones with pins and holes on the bottom that take the black trim.
Besides the holes are the doors the same? as im thinking of getting rid of the black strips, plan to grind back the pins and weld the hole...
how much work is involved in fitting one of these ?

Best cheapo suspension i have had is a Bilstein Streetline from euro car parts
4 new bilstein shockers and ventura ( i think) lowering springs, was on an audi 80 but gave a nice drop and good ride quality for about £200
I tend to find that my 2 local audi dealers are complete a-holes when it comes to parts so i get my stuff through the much friendlier VW dealer, even get discount too
i used to run 8x18 et48s with a 225 40 no problems with inside fouling anything
I now run 9.5x18 rears offset 35 with standard arches
fronts 8.5x18 et 32 with rolled arches
you will have to roll the fronts to run low with any size rears are very accomodating

Thanks for the advice took the batt off tonight and left it for 5 then ignition on till i heard the throttle body stop moving itself about started it and took it for a spin it all seems to be sorted now.
Just got MOT tomorrow to look forward to now fingers crossed

Mot is booked for sat and i wanted to fit new rear pads in advance of this. I disconnected the battery as i seem to remember reading that you you should when messing about with the braking system.
Did some other bits and bobs like clean up discs, oil and filter change then reconnected...
When i was at Worthewrsee years ago i saw an B5 with a bad boy bonnet, it was really small and the extension really was just slightly larger than the gap between the bonnet and the light i thought it looked really effective, was one of those things where it took a few minutes to figure out what...
