My A3 2017 2.0 TDI had a major service at the local Audi dealers last week. Today whilst topping up the screen wash I noticed that the underbody tray, visible from the engine bay, still had a lot of dust, small stones etc on it. I would expect anyone removing the tray would have dusted it off. Since access to the oil filter requires the tray to be removed I now gave some doubts if the dealer actually bothered to replace the filter during the service. The screws holding the tray also look as if they have not been touched. Am I correct that on the oil filter can only be reached by removing the under body tray?
Did they change the oil filter?

The oil filter, I believe is in the same place as the 1.9tdi, front right of the engine accessed from above.
Main dealers tend to use a "vacuum box" with hose inserted through the dipstick tube to remove oil. I do the same using a Sealey vacuum pump. It saves getting under the car.

Pretty sure most of the Diesels are this way.
EA888 petrol engine is an engine bay up top filter.

Being an Audi dealership, they would have charged you another half hour labour to dust the tray..
You should be able to see the work done on your car from the Audi Cam facility.

Probably sucked it out & tbh, they dont need to clean the tray unless its caked up with crap, oil etc, I do as I'm anal, but dealer techs aren't necessarily required too.
