Hi all,

The other half just told me the pan roof was squeaking when she opened it today. It’s a 67 plate so still in warranty but had major issues with my c class roof last year which I don’t want to happen again!
Is it worth giving it a clean and some lubricant? The car isn’t due a service until the end of the year when I will pay the £75 for Audi to service the roof aswell. It’s 22c here right now and the car has been in the sun all day so could it just be the sills sticking? Any recommendations to lube the pan roof please? Thanks

If you have noises from the actual mechanism I would be returning to the dealer so they can investigate. They have a special tool and indeed grease for lubricating pan roofs. I cannot find an image of said tool but its inserted in to the runners and lube's up both sides at the same time.

Warm temperatures do the same to my roof not that we get them that often in central Scotland...lol

I tried it a few times this evening and it worked fine every time with no odd sounds and no visible marks/grease scrapings etc. Hopefully it was just the temperature making it stick, so I’ll give it a clean when I get round to washing the car. Thanks for the replies

Ifr you are looking to put something on the rubber look no further than 'Gummi Pflege Rubber Care Stick', I use it on my A5 coupe door rubbers, it stops them freezing to the metal in the winter! Makes the rubber supple and brings back the black colour as well.

When booking in my MY18 for service they said there wasn’t a schedule for pano roof runner lubrication. Can’t comment for other cars/years though.

Apparently the sunroof service is every 36000 miles according to Tyneside Audi who didn't tell me anything about it until the part of the service where they text/email you the cars status. Saying sunroof service was due and would cost £245 because they have to use 3 different types of grease...… needless to say £245 to slap some grease on, no thanks I'll buy my own silicon grease for the seals and runners

Honestly.....you would think that main dealers pluck numbers out of the air when it comes to serviceable items.....and it always seems to be ******* high numbers!
That is just downright scandalous!! :rage:
