Make my a3 more characterful...!

I think a lot of the 2.0TFSI parts are shared with the 1.8TFSI so stuff like he Revo CAI should be a direct fit, have a look on golf forums aswell as I haven’t seen many people on here modding 1.8’s but I found loads of info on golf forums when I had my 1.8TFSI

It should be stamped on your engine somewhere, might need to wipe some muck and oil off. When I’m home I’ll show you where my code is as I’d guess they’d be stamped in similar place

It will be on the build label on the boot floor near the spare wheel well. Alternatively the same label will be in the front of the original service book if you still have it.

Hi @S3 Rav - before I purchased my S3 I has an 09 1.8 tfsi, it was absolutely mint condition but after purchasing new (OEM) alloys, replacing brakes, retrofitting RNS-E and a RamAir I take - I personally found it underwhelming to drive. On two occasions I checked to see if it actually had a turbo. In hindsight and knowing what I know no it’s possibly the DV valve needed replacing (it’s bolted to the turbo) but I didn’t know this at the time.

Searching forums I found very little mod wise I could do to the 1.8 but to implement the wish list I’d made would have code about £4k which put me into S3 price territory but with 20-30 bhp less than a stock S3. So after 3 months I traded up to what I have not.

This was only my experience - I always planned to mod the car but I didn’t do my homework first. Again, I’m not saying this is you.

The engine is likely to be the EA888 CCZA. The later builds were ok but the early builds suffered from piston ring failure identified but huge oil usage - mine was perfect.

I did have but sold a turbo from the MK6 GTI (2.0) which is a bold on fit. The cost of fitting and mapping wasn’t economical for me but would have put it near S3 specs.

Many 2.0 parts will fit as mentioned above. Depending on where you want to go, turbo back exhaust, intake and a Stg2 map should keep you happy.

unless you are willing to spend bigtime, you will likely be underwhelmed with the result. Pleasure in driving is not always speed but exhaust note and suspension. I would look into making the car handle better and play with CAI and BOV for noise along with an exhaust.

That really is a good point, you could easily spend your mod money to upgrade and have a better all round package.

That’s exactly what I did as I had all sorts of plans for my S-Line A3 1.8TFSI but ended up getting rid after a year as I’d done CAI, rear diffuser, coilovers, wheels and tints etc but realised it was still FWD and only 160 odd bhp so thought lets get double the bhp and double the driven wheels (and 2 less doors for some reason lol)

Sign of the times, Cars have got so heavy they hardly move ...
Its all down to power to weight ratio and the cheapest and easiest way to improve that is to dump weight. It does work, i really notice a passenger in my car, it just knocks the edge off the performance. When i was a kid my mate had a Capri. 2.8 V6 injection, it would pin you in your seat and went like the ****** clappers and they were 150 bhp.
Anyone who has picked up a front electric seat will know what i mean
