A3 8P1 Cruise control...retrofit

Hi there,i need some help from the experts!
I have an A3 8p1 3D late 2005 made..without mfsw, 3 spoke but my steering wheel control unit is midline AF in the end.
I ordered a cruise control retrofit kit and received those:

8P0953516AGRA lower column trim
8P0953513D stalk

i think this is not correct,

i had ordered:

8P0953512A6PS lower column trim
8P0054690 stalk

is there any chance those parts fit my car?
 
8P0953516A i cant find it anywhere on the net..it doesnt appear even in the etka online http://www.oemepc.com..

the 8P0953513D is correct i guess from a short searching.

''all parts are right . 516A is only plastic black , but 512A is the complete cover include other part inside the black''

8P0953513D is the stalks.

8P0054690B is the whole kit including cables & ties.
 
However B and D do work differently - full bean is enabled by momentary push forwards on D, rather than clicking forwards. The reason I say is that on the TT putting a D on a car that should have a B can prevent full bean from staying on, maybe the A3 is different

Not sure if A3 is different or if you are mixing up things.

I can however confirm that both 8P0953513B and 8P0953513D will work. Only difference is the icons on the stalk.

The issue MT-V6 is mentioning is with 8P0953513F which will work, but then you can only flash with full bean, not have it stay on.

I have had all 3 of them installed on my A3 8P from 2007. Started with the wrong one, then did the icon upgrade later.

I doubt 8P0953513F will work as its for 2009+.

8P0953513B and 8P0953513D are the same just that D has the later icon on the stalk.
 
As mentioned, 8P0953513F will work (the cruise control will work) however full beam will not work. You can only flash with the full beam.

I had it installed myself, so I learned it the hard way!
 
I recently bought the "B" and it's identical to whats on my car (57' Plate).

If you search the part number on ebay can get the full stalk kit for quite cheap, the cowls the expensive part unless you're handy with a dremel.

MT-V6 the stalk is with 2 icons.

Reading all the answers and looking around the D is the latest correct part full working.
As for the cowl I wanted to replace it because it has some marks like the paint has cracked so got it all from eBay for 129€ cowl+stalk+cable&ties.

Tomorrow I am going for fitting to a local garage!
 
Well,hi guys!
I am fitted!
8P0953513D stalk+8P0953512A6PS lower column trim.
Everything works fine,high beam all good!The cable was there already to pin 13!

Now i need your help on how it works?
In FIS there is nothing relative to cruise,only a green indicator lights up in the kilometer counter when enabled.
I cant understand what RESUME and CANCEL does.
And not really understand when it really gets enabled ..what does SET do?

I know for sure a lot of you have it so please explain me.

I forgot to mention,129 € spended for the parts and the very kind owner of the garage
charged only 20 € for workmanship! It took about 40 minutes!

1) Enable the Cruise Control feature.
This is done by pulling the stalk towards yourself, so it sits in that position. I always have my cruise control in active postion.

2) The cruise control can be activated when driving 50 km/t or more. This is done by pressing the button at the end of the stalk. The text says "SET". Your display should now display a small green icon, telling you that the cruise control is active.

3) The speed is set at the same as when you enabled the cruise control. You can however go up and down in speed by pulling the stalk up or down. If you need to go up in speed temporarly you can simply just press the speeder.

4) Deactivating the cruise control kan be done 3 different ways.
- Press the clutch.
- Press the brake.
- Press the cruise control stalk away from yourself

Another option which I actually prefer is to just press the cruise control a little away from yourself, not that far that it deactivated the feature. Just remember to have you feet ready for the accelerator.
 
So FredrikA3 in the FIS does not appear anything like the speed you set for example with up and down?

From the short use i did i couldnt understand what SET was doing because the cruise only got enabled when pressing up the stalk
to increase velocity,and RESUME whats the use,i dont get it..

I will read your answers and wait for the weekend to go on a highway so i can test everything!

2) When you click the SET button, a green icon is shown. Now the cruise control is activated at running.

There will not be anything else showing than the green icon once the cruise control is started. If you want for example your speed shown you can change the FIS to show mph, but that is the same display with or without the cruise control, it will just show your speed (only with the big FIS).

However, I am not sure what you want the FIS to display once the cruise control is on?

If there was indication of the speed you set for exmple it would be helpful,8p dont have digital speed meter!
I went a short run,when i press SET nothing happens,no green light!
Only when i press + (up) it turns on and when press CANCEL it turns off.
RESUME and SET doesnt seem to do anything.
Any other suggestions and explainations?:sos:
 
Have you actually used vcds and coded it in correctly? I.e. The engine and steering wheel module? If on revision D stalk then it won't show the digital mph increase when moving the stalk up and down like it does on the revision F. It will just show when it's on i.e the green light when you press set.

I guess they coded right.
The thing is beyond the FIS that when
stalk is on and press SET I don't see anything happens or the green light..
I press up (+) and then it goes green and works.
And when press once CANCEL it idles but
pressing RESUME won't go green and work unless I press up (+) again.

I don't know,maybe I go too slow,I haven't been on Highway,I tested on 40-50 km/h.
 
Yes it is manual!I will see,I haven't yet go for a ride.
I find a tutorial video that describes the hole function like your explanation exactly!
 
And after the test ride my fears came true.
Buttons SET and RESUME give no function,
and the hole cruise enable function just enables with "+" or "-" and also this when the car wants,not every time I was trying to
enable it.

So,if someone with an 8p of my year 2005
has this stalk for cruise fitted or factory equipped please make a thoroughly describe of usage!

The installed parts are 110% correct. I just did a double check.

There are 4 possible scenarios here.

1) The stalk got a defect
2) Wrong ECU installed
3) Wrong/missing coding
4) Missing control wire for stalk

The control wire is pre-installed on 2006 models and on, but not always in older models.
 
The black wire in chamber 13 at ecu connector was there,I looked it myself.
My ecu is 1K0953549AF which based on Ross-Tech is midline compatible with cc.
About the coding and if it is defect I can't
say.
There is a bad habit some
people have,for example if I say to the
electrician at the garage that maybe he has done something wrong in coding he will reply to me ironically "don't I know my job".
So I am trying to have some feedback from here maybe I can end up somewhere.
 
After reading older posts and having some conversations I found the answer.from the "1K0" modules only 1K0953549AH is compatible with the icons,in other modules it works
differently.
For set:towards and down (-)
-/+ works OK
After brake or clutch:up(+) to resume set speed
If backwards to cancel then repeat set steps.

Hello everyone, I have a donor 8p with with cruise control and I want to install it in my car, but this car has DSG and mine doesn't, there's any problem with compatibility?

It depends on the year of the donor car and the year of your car. Can you perhaps give us some details?

My car is from 10/2005 and the donor car is like mine (pre-facelift) but I dont know the year of it and its from UK, I'll try to get the vin code

Update:

I installed and coded the stalk today and it works, but not all the functions.
It activates only if I press down the stalk (lower speed) and the "resume" and "set" functions dont work , maybe my car prefers the vw golf V stalk?

Did you try it with a speed above 50KM/ph ?

You can also do the following to check if the ECU registers everything;

[16-Steerwingwheel]
[Measuring blocks]
Go to group 004

Now hit the stalk, press SET, pull it up and down and look if VCDS sees the actions. If they do the stalk is registered right..
I've also read some people that had trouble with the stalk and when they "uncoded" and recoded it, it worked.

Yes I tried with all kind of speed, above 30kmph
I'll try this advice on saturday , if the VCDS dont see the actions what I have to do?
