Hello all,

I'm new to Audi ownership having purchased a lovely little 2007 2.0tdi. I have put a set of 18's on and now i'd like to lower it slightly say 30mm, what is the general advice from forum members as to what to fit?

thanks in advance.

Depends what model you have now, SE is the highest in standard form and Sline/sport/black are about 15 to 20mm lower. Aftermarket kits quote the lowering figure with the SE model as a reference height.

Mine definately has the SE spec suspension as it is noticeably higher than the Sline parked next to me!

If the Sline suspension looks right for you, then buy them or Eibach Pro sport which end up the same height. As your car is 12 years old now I would advise renewing the shocks as well, something like Bilstein B4 or B6 would be ideal and more comfy than the stock Sline parts.

My A3 S-Line has factory 18” alloys and a few months ago replaced the original suspension with an Eibach Pro-kit (which is meant to give the same height as the factory S-Line set-up) and a set of Bilstein B4 shocks .
The B4 shocks are OEM quality, just not as hard , and this is borne out by the way my car now rides.
The factory suspension was rock hard and really uncomfortable , the new suspension is firm but doesn’t shake my fillings out like the old did!
The only issue with mine was that even though the Eibach springs are shorter than the ones I took off the car now is about 5mm higher all-round than before , apparently this is down to the B4 being a gas shock unit with higher pressure.
This didn’t bother me , but might be important to you if ride height is your main concern.

I bought a set of eibach pro for my s-line with SE suspension waiting to be fitted at the service. My only concern is that I'm upgrading only the springs and leave the SE shocks. I've only 47000 km though so they are still good.

The Eibach Pros are designed to match the OE shocks so no problem there. You shocks should be ok at 47000 k. its not a huge mileage.

I never understood why the Eibach pro kit for the S3 only has front springs as it makes the car sit 25mm lower at the front than the back..

Would A3 Quattro Eibachrear springs give the drop necessary? Just a thought.

I dont know, i suspect that the a3 kit just takes it down to S3 std level ?

I lowered my A S-line by 50mm on H&R springs and it sits perfectly and the ride hasn't been ruined either. I still find it comfortable

I would recommend the eibach pro -30mm springs and bilstein b4 dampers. In case you are looking, don't go for the Vogtland -50mm springs and shocks kit, as the ride is far too stiff for our UK roads and not comfortable.

Eibach pro is 30mm lower than SE and S Line is 25mm lower than SE. I’m not sure on the S3 though, I think the S3 is either 30 or 35mm lower than SE so it may take it to the same or if not then there’s only 5mm difference.
Those figures above for eibach pro though are if you use standard or S Line shocks. If you use bilstein shocks then it’s slightly higher.

My S Line is on eibach pro springs with oem S Line dampers and id say the ride quality is perfect. When it was oem s Line springs and oem dampers it were a shocking ride. Way too hard.

Sorry to just chime in on the thread. I'm new and have no computer knowledge.
I have a4 B7, and it's sat on se spring's and shocks. I'm wanting to lower it but lose minimum amount of comfort. Can anybody recommend what route and brand to use please.
Coilovers??
Spring's and shocks?

That’s interesting to know , I had always assumed the awful ride quality of my A3 was due to both shocks & springs , but I guess it was just the factory springs reminding me at every road imperfection and bump that I was driving an S-Line ,lol.

I suppose I exaggerated a little when I said it was perfect but it’s definately made a good difference. I’m on my 2nd S Line now, first was a pre facelift 3door and this is a 5 door facelift Quattro and the ride was just as harsh on both. Then I changed all 4 springs on this facelift Quattro to eibach pro and it’s made a good difference in ride quality definitely. They’re not that expensive either.

As I posted some time ago, I did all 4 shocks & springs earlier this year , think the Eibach Pro-springs were about £125 and the Bilstein B4 shocks about £200 , all sourced from Germany as they were quite a bit cheaper when sourced from over there.
In my eyes that’s good value for money , just wish I’d done it a long time ago.......
